By Car:
If you are driving from the north, the two main routes are via the A78 (Irvine, Saltcoats, Ardorssan), and the M77/A77 (Kilmarnock, Glasgow).In both cases follow the directions to Prestwick Airport via the A79. After exiting the roundabout which takes you onto the A79, approximately 200 yards on your left you will see Prestwick Airport, and also a Goodrich building. At the bottom of the incline there is a roundabout. Go straight on (second exit). After approximately 0.50 miles you will see a small roundabout in front of Prestwick Airport, again go straight through. At the next roundabout take the third exit (following the sign for Prestwick). You will pass Monkton & Prestwick North Parish Church on your left, and Bryson's Garage on the right.
St Nicholas is on the far side of Prestwick Main Street, so carry straight on passing the Co-operative supermarket on your right. There are now only three streets you can turn left on - Hunter Street, St Quivox Road, and Bellevue Road. Carry on past Hunter Street, and St Quivox. After approximately 100 yards you will see St Nicholas Parish Church on your left. Take the first left onto Bellevue Road, and after a small but steep incline you will see a free car park on your right. Don't worry if you miss the Bellevue Road exit. Pass the traffic lights, and immediately turn left, drive up the incline and you have reached the car park.
If travelling from the south the best way to approach Prestwick is using the A77 following the road signs for Prestwick Airport via the A79, and follow the directions above.
If travelling from Ayr use the A79 passing Sainsburys supermarket on the
right (at Prestwick Toll), and drive straight on. After
approximately 0.50 mile there are a set of traffic lights. Immediately after
the traffic lights go into the right lane and turn right onto Bellevue Road.
After a small but steep incline there is a free car park on the right. St
Nicholas Parish Church is on your left.
By Bus:
Please go to the website of Stagecoach UK to choose appropriate travel
arrangements.
The bus will stop at Grangemuir Road, and you walk
north for approximately 50 yards you will see
St Nicholas Parish Church on the corner of Main Street
and Bellevue Road.
By Train:
Trains run from Glasgow, Ayr, and a limited service from Girvan. Please go to TheTrainline.com website to choose appropriate travel arrangements.
Directions from Prestwick Town Station
Exit the station, and walk straight ahead to the Main Street along Station Road. When you reach the end of Station Road you will see the Post Office on your left, the Bank of Scotland on your right, and straight ahead is Stewart Travel. Cross Main Street to Stewart Travel, and walk south for 50 yards to the bus stop (opposite the Co-operative supermarket), and board a bus to Grangemuir Road. Walk north for approximately 50 yards you will see St Nicholas Parish Church on the corner of Main Street and Bellevue Road.
If you wish to walk from the station to the church, exit the station, and walk straight ahead to the Main Street along Station Road. When you reach the end of Station Road you will see the Post Office on your left, the Bank of Scotland on your right, and straight ahead is Stewart Travel. Cross Main Street to Stewart Travel, and walk south for approximately 0.50 mile. The church is situated on the corner of Bellevue Road and Main Street.
